Is it possible to get a safe combination from and antique safe if its locked open?

I have a chance to purchase a very old cobminations safe that is open but locked open. Is it possible to access the lock from the inside of the door and figure out the combination that way then reassemble it and use the safe? There is an access panel on teh back of teh door behind the lock.

Yes, if it is open, a locksmith can figure out the combination. Don’t try it yourself. I have many sad stories about people who thought they could do this themselves and end up getting locked out, a costly mistake. If it is small enough for you to take in to a locksmith, that would be cheaper than having them come out to do it.
